2012 ENTRY INFORMATION

(Note from the office of the Venerable Doo Dah Information Attached: If you are thinking of entering the parade (oh, pitiful you), please memorize this page word for word, as there will be an exhaustive, painfully difficult test. Or, just read it and think pleasant thoughts, but try to keep the humming and twiddling to a minimum will you?)

PARADE DAY: Saturday, April 28, 2012, 11:00am, Pasadena

YOUR ARRIVAL: You will be informed of the set-up location once we hear from you. Please arrive NO LATER THAN 10:00am.

Vehicles not in the parade will need to drop off people, props, floats, etc., and find parking outside of the staging area. Come early, mingle, have fun, take pictures, practice your routines, pose, there will be lots of media on hand.

CHECK-IN: Check-In will be open from 8:00am. The set-up location will be disclosed as we receive your information.

Entry fees should be sent in with the entry form prior to the parade, so we can get you more info in a timely manner. Additional entry fees for more marchers will be collected at check-in. The main entry contact person (on the form) will be given parade stickers for each paid participant in their group; Entries must wear them so they are visible.

PARADE TIPS: The Doo Dah Parade has no marching order, so find a place that makes you comfortable. But, remember, it’s first-come-first-serve. If you are concerned about your spot, come early. Think about what is fun in front and behind you.

If you’re a band you’ll want to find a place that’s not in front of or behind another musical group. Entries have been really good at figuring this out!

Please do not throw any hard objects into the crowd, and keep in mind the trash left behind. As specially requested by an entry, marshmallows have caused problems to their props and spokes, so please avoid them.

Make sure to wear comfortable shoes unless your costume begs for something else! Bring water and snacks for before the parade, there will be vendors selling coffee and hot chocolate, sodas and hot dogs and breakfast foods.

SOUVENIRS AVAILABLE: Official New 2012 Pasadena Doo Dah Parade T-shirts can be purchased for $15.00 at event in the staging area as well as along the parade route. When you buy a t-shirt, you are supporting the whole Doo Dah Parade operation, which is a nonprofit, with a percentage also benefiting Lion’s Club, and your support really makes a difference, thank you with good karma points!

OFFICIAL DOO DAH AFTER-PARTY: (Immediately following the parade) American Legion, 179 N. Vinedo St. Pasadena (2 blocks north of parade route at Vinedo and Walnut). Snotty Scotty and the Hankies, Horses on Astroturf. Cheap food and drinks!!!! $5 cover supports a Legion charity (cash only bar).

Remember, all entry fees are needed to support the ever-growing costs of the parade. The Doo Dah Parade is mainly supported by the entries and is produced by a nonprofit organization. Your entry fees go immediately into event costs, so please be mindful there are no refunds.

In the true spirit of Doo Dah, homemade conveyances and walking entries are especially encouraged. Motorized vehicles and pets need to be approved first, please call us.
